Protection of Privacy Right of Patients in Swiss Healthcare Centres: A Digital Framework for Safeguarding the Security of Patient Dossiers
Abstract
If privacy is taken to be a relatively personal space, it is difficult to think of an area more of a privacy domain than that of the medical information of patients (Pritts, 2008). Patient right to privacy protection in healthcare centers, including medical information in electronic health records (EHRs), is the key component to establishing and building the trust required to realize the potential benefits of holistic healthcare information exchange. According to Liu, May, Caelli, & Croll (2008), privacy in healthcare is an area of high sensitivity and can present major obstacles that prevent patients’ dossiers from being trusted.
