Privatization Of The Energy Industry: An Examination Of The Nigerian Power Sector For The Period Of 2003 Through 2016

2017 Proposal/Plan

Abstract

Effective private-public partnerships are considered to be very important in resolving universal access to electricity and in the achievement of sustainable energy development (UN-Energy, 2012). Power outages cost Nigeria approximately three percent of its GDP every year and at an optimal power generation of 13,000 MW, Nigeria loses US$80 billion per annum in GDP. As a result, the power sector was privatized by the Federal Government but has so far yielded negative outcomes.
